Become a Member of OACTA
Membership in OACTA brings many benefits to its members. First and foremost are the networking opportunities presented by our Summer and Winter Conferences. Social activities combined with quality CLE attract many repeat attendees at every meeting. Attendance at both of these meetings will satisfy your bi-annual CLE requirements at a very low cost. Members attend at a reduced cost.
Your networking opportunities are now enhanced by the ListServe. This ListServe will allow members to instantly communicate with one another and with the officers and committee members of OACTA on the issues of their choice. It will allow OACTA to instantly notify its members of recent developments and issues that need their immediate attention. For example, if you need an expert witness in a particular field or if you need information about a particular expert, use the ListServe to contact your fellow members. You do this by emailing our ListServe Administrator with the information/questions you have and an email will be sent out to the entire membership within 24 hours. Please be sure to always include who is seeking the information and how to contact him/her.
OACTA members have their fingers on the pulse of the Supreme Court and the Ohio Legislature and we can assist you by putting you in touch with OACTA members who know the contacts you need to make.
The OACTA Newsletter lets you communicate your activities, awards, speeches and professional accomplishments to over 800 lawyers and to the judges before whom you practice. The OACTA Quarterly presents authoritative publication opportunities for its members on any topic relevant to the civil justice system. The Quarterly provides scholarly articles of immense importance to your practice four times per year, as well as providing a review of recent cases and new developments in the legislature.
OACTA Substantive Law Committees provide opportunities for our members to interact with and discuss issues common to defense attorneys who practice in a wide range of practice areas. They also provide speaking and publication opportunities to all of our members.
Our Amicus Attorney Committee provides supportive briefing in the Ohio Supreme Court for our members who have issues before the court which present substantive legal issues of common interest to our members.
Our Government Relations Committee monitors legislation pending in the Ohio General Assembly which may affect OACTA members and their clients, keep members alerted of key legislative developments, and coordinates our lobbying activities in the legislature. |
