What can we expect from Ohio Courts moving forward? An esteemed panel of Supreme Court Justices (Justice Fischer and Justice Stewart) and Appellate Judges (Judge Baldwin and Judge Dorrian) will give you their insights. Other presentations include the impact on trials in light of BLM (black lives matter), legislative and civil rules updates and mediation tips. A panel of insurance professionals will update us on the status of the insurance industry in light of the pandemic. Breakout sessions will address construction law and personal injury cases. Improve your practice with marketing tips and learn techniques to deal with stress to maintain positive mental health. Up to 8.75 CLE credits are available, including 2.5hr. of APC credits.

Ready for a night out with your colleagues? Join us for a Social & Networking Event on Thursday evening, 5:30-8:30pm. This fun-filled Casino Night will be at the Hilton Polaris and includes food, drink tickets and a DJ.

Ensuring Your Health & Safety

Your health and safety is our priority and we are prepared to offer a safe environment for Annual Meeting attendees! OACTA will follow the State of Ohio and City of Columbus guidelines and requirements for responsible operations of meetings and events. In partnership with the Hilton Polaris, and in accordance with all current national / state / local restrictions, OACTA will provide:

  • Responsible food & beverage service throughout the meeting;
  • Appropriate spatial distancing to ensure the comfort of attendees;
  • Hand sanitizer stations positioned throughout the meeting space by the Hilton;
  • At this time, per the current guidance by Columbus Mayor Ginther, the Hilton is mandating masks to be worn in all the public space by attendees and staff. OACTA strongly recommends that all unvaccinated and immunocompromised individuals wear a mask at all times;
  • All registrants must agree to comply with current safety precautions and/or restrictions at the time of the meeting, and to forgo attending the in-person meeting if they are ill or have been recently exposed to COVID-19.

**Claims Executives are individuals employed as a claims professional by a corporation or insurance co., who spends a substantial portion of his or her professional time hiring or supervising outside counsel in the representation of business, insurance companies or their insureds, associations or governmental entities in civil litigation.

***In-House or Corporate Counsel are licensed attorneys, who are employed exclusively by a corporation or other private sector organization for the purpose of providing legal representation and counsel only to that corporation, its affiliates and subsidiaries. These lawyers act in a legal capacity for insurers or corporations but do not appear in court as defense counsel.

Continuing Legal Education

This course is approved by the Supreme Court of Ohio Commission on Continuing Legal Education for 8.75 total CLE hours, with 2.25 of attorney professional conduct instruction. The course is also approved by the Kentucky Bar Association.
