Join John Farnan and Dan Richards, partners at Weston Hurd, as they address insurance coverage for Business Interruption Claims arising from the Coronavirus pandemic. John and Dan will discuss how this new crisis would fit or not fit within the confines of existing insurance policies and existing case law and how the law might evolve to handle this new situation.

Speakers:

John G. Farnan is a Partner at Weston Hurd LLP. He practices in the areas of insurance coverage, personal injury, premises and professional liability, commercial litigation and appellate. John received his B.A. from Georgetown University and his J.D. from the University of Notre Dame Law School. John was OACTA’s Member of the Year in 2002, is past Chairman of the OACTA Insurance Coverage Committee and a former member of OACTA’s Board of Trustees. He is also a member of the Federation of Defense and Corporate Counsel and a former fellow of the American College of Coverage and Extracontractual Counsel. Away from the office, John enjoys spending time with his wife and six children and coaching CYO girls’ basketball. In his 25+ year basketball coaching career, John has been the head coach of four girls’ Cleveland CYO City Championship teams, most recently in 2020


Daniel A. Richards is Weston Hurd’s Managing Partner. He has more than 25 years of first chair trial and appellate court experience representing the insurance industry, construction companies, engineering firms, hospitals, healthcare professionals, manufacturers, and retailers  in Ohio’s state courts and federal courts and throughout the United States. Dan received his B.S. in Business from Miami University and his J.D. from Cleveland-Marshall College of Law. Dan is a member of OACTA’s Board of Trustees, Chair of OACTA's Appellate Practice Section, former Chair of OACTA's Medical Malpractice Section, a member of the Federation of Defense and Corporate Counsel, a member of the Claims & Litigation Management Alliance, and a founding member of the Ohio State Bar Association’s Appellate Practice Section. Dan has received OACTA’s Distinguished Service Award on multiple occasions for authoring the Amicus Curiae briefs in Arbino v. Johnson, Robinson v. Bates, Jacques v. Manton and In re All Cases Against Sager Corp.

CLE Credit:
This on-demand webinar is approved by the Supreme Court of Ohio Commission on Continuing Legal Education for 1.0 general hour of live, interactive webinar credit. CLE credit will be submitted to the Supreme Court of Ohio by the OACTA office.

Due to the Coronavirus pandemic, the Ohio Supreme Court Commission on Continuing Legal Education is allowing live, interactive webinar credit to be used to fulfill up to 24 hours of the CLE requirements.

To fulfill CLE requirements for a live, interactive webinar program, you must register for the program, join the meeting; and complete the evaluation with the verification code at the end of the program.
