Join Steven Teterus, BSME, ACTAR as he discusses the crucial role that accident investigation and reconstruction play in resolving vehicle- related cases. This discussion will focus on the new trends in accident reconstruction and the tools and technology that reconstructionists utilize throughout their investigations. The presenting engineer will discuss a wide-range of topics from evidence documentation and preservation with three-dimensional laser scanners to advanced light metering techniques to document scene illumination. The engineer will discuss incident severity and techniques such as event data recorder (EDR) imaging, component testing, and photogrammetry. The audience will come to appreciate terms and principles used in accident reconstruction such as delta-V, acceleration, and principle direction of force. The tools and technologies will be introduced followed by case-studies and real-world examples.
Speaker:
Mr. Teterus is a forensic scientist and accident reconstructionist specializing in the reconstruction of motor vehicle collisions. He is experienced in vehicle dynamics, vehicle suspension design, and the operation and maintenance of vehicle subsystems, including steering, suspension, braking, and powertrain systems.
Mr. Teterus specializes in collisions involving vehicle performance issues, including suspected component failures and the physical limitations of vehicle performance. He is also experienced in constructing scene diagrams and drawings utilizing computer-aided design software, is certified as a BOSCH Crash Data Retrieval (CDR) technician, and is experienced in documenting evidence utilizing 3D laser scanning. Mr. Teterus relies on his educational background in mechanical engineering to understand the abilities and limitations of modern vehicle performance and vehicle subsystem failures as they apply to accident reconstruction.
CLE Credit:
This webinar is pending approval by the Supreme Court of Ohio Commission on Continuing Legal Education for 1.0 general hour of live, interactive webinar credit. CLE credit will be submitted to the Supreme Court of Ohio by the OACTA office.
Due to the Coronavirus pandemic, the Ohio Supreme Court Commission on Continuing Legal Education is allowing live, interactive webinar credit to be used to fulfill up to 24 hours of the CLE requirements.
To fulfill CLE requirements for a live, interactive webinar program, you must register for the program, join the meeting; and complete the evaluation with the verification code at the end of the program.
