Join Natalie Siston as she discusses: What we don’t know really can hurt us. During this session, participants learn what unconscious bias is, how to recognize it when it is happening, and move into a mindset of inclusion. Key components of the presentation include:
- Defining bias – beyond the categories of gender, race, age and sexual orientation
- Understanding when unconscious bias help
- Case studies of when unconscious bias has led to harm (think Uber and Wells Fargo)
- Impact of bias and inclusion on employee engagement
Speaker:
 Everything Natalie Siston needed to know about leadership she learned by growing up in Republic, Ohio, (population 600). These lessons have been the guiding force in her career, which has spanned from Silicon Valley to the Fortune 100 and founding Small Town Leadership in 2016.
Natalie has over 20 years of experience in the non-profit, corporate and higher education sectors. She is currently the Director of Sales Coaching & Development at Nationwide and Founder of Small Town Leadership. Natalie has her BA in Political Science and Psychology and her MBA from The Ohio State University. She is an Associate Certified Coach (ACC) through the International Coach Federation.
She is a frequently featured speaker at leadership conferences, a regular contributor to podcasts about networking and a sought after coach for those looking to be more connected to themselves, their family, work and community. She lives in Dublin, Ohio with her husband, Rob, a professor of mechanical engineering at The Ohio State University and her daughters Mary Beth (10) and Katie (8).
